A Filling Weekend

Last week, I attended the Bon-Odori event, which was held at the Panasonic Sports Complex in Shah Alam.

Obon or just Bon is a Japanese Buddhist custom to honor the departed (deceased) spirits of one's ancestors. This Buddhist custom has evolved into a family reunion holiday during which people return to ancestral family places and visit and clean their ancestors' graves, and when the spirits of ancestors are supposed to revisit the household altars. It has been celebrated in Japan for more than 500 years and traditionally includes a dance, known as Bon-Odori.

In comparison to the celebrations in Japan, the festival is celebrated on a much smaller scale in Penang and Selangor, and is less associated with Buddhism and more with Japanese culture. Held mainly to expose locals to a part of Japanese culture, the festival provides the experience of a variety of Japanese food & drinks, art and dance.

Here are some of the photos :)

However, the event was really crowded, and I reached there a bit late due to attending arbitration class earlier.

Look at the crowd!

I left the event earlier as I cannot stand the crowd and the queue to purchase japanese food is really long... So i had KFC for dinner instead...

The next day, Lydia, Akmal, Ann, Zarrieff and I went shopping to get Rayyan some new shoes!

We were craving for Japanese food, and since we did not get to eat any in Bon-Odori, we went to Sushi Zanmai!

... and I have to say, the food is awesome! :P

Thus, this is why this post titled "A Filling Weekend". Filled with KFC and Sushi Zanmai, and more importantly, filled with fun, joy and laughter! :)
